Do not go to Latvia for seaside tourism!!!. Latvian police set traps for unsuspecting tourists and issue fines from 100 to 1000 euros for violations of the "protected zone", although there are no boundaries from where to it, no signs and information boards that it is a protected zone.

For those who may not be fully aware, the Lithuanian language is a very old language & a very beautiful one too. Many Linguists possess specific interest in the Lithuanian language, mainly because it's considered to be the oldest surviving Indo-European language. This thought alone, I find completely fascinating & reminds me of the Hungarian language, which is also very old & completely unique within Europe, albeit it shares similarities with both Khanty & Mansi (West Siberian dialects). (Hungarian belongs to the Ugric branch of Finno-Ugric languages.) Interestingly, the Lithuanian language retains many archaic features, which are believed to have been present in the early stages, of the Proto-Indo-European language.

Lithuania, so beautiful & possessing such a rich & diverse history. I've long been both intrigued & interested in the Baltic countries & specifically, Lithuania. For me personally, I first fell in love with this country, after meeting a most wonderful & hospitable human being from Lithuania. I met her as a Royal District Nurse here in Australia & as soon as we met, she & her kind husband welcomed me like family into their home. I was actually blown away by this lady's open, trusting nature, kindness & easy going, friendly attitude toward me, a complete stranger inside her home. It gets even better, although @ the time, I certainly didn't expect or ask anything of her, except to be there to check in on her & to provide any required care to her. Nonetheless, upon each ensuing visit thereafter, I was treated to a full traditional Lithuanian lunch, which she'd prepared for she, her husband & I, as she was expecting me. She'd cook the most delicious meals, usually consisting of potatoes, carrots, onions, beetroot, pork or fish & plenty of sour cream. Fresh homemade salads were always on the menu too. I did feel somewhat guilty, as I didn't expect free lunch & such hospitality, but she would not take "no" for an answer. She cooked for me, this most delicious chicken & noodle soup & I recall some onion & tasty herbs in there too & what tasted like a delicious stock for the liquid. It was so tasty, but my favourite was her fried potatoes in butter & she'd sometimes add some freshly crushed garlic, salt & cracked black pepper. Her food was so similar to mine actually & I guess I could totally relate to the traditional cuisine. I loved this woman & she me & to this day, over 15 yrs later, I still remember & think of her very fondly. I suspect she's now passed on, as I was then in my 20s & I'm now in my 40s. She was a kindergarten teacher back in Lithuania & she was well suited to this role, as she was very intelligent, genuinely kind & patient. I have met many wonderful humans abound, but nobody quite like this lady. Her heart was pure gold & her arms always open for me & for others. She was like my 2nd Mother. I have since decided, that I am going to fly to Lithuania in memory of my dear long lost friend & I wish to fully explore Lithuania. Funnily enough, I took a number of DNA tests & all revealed that I am part Baltic. If only I'd known back then, I'd have shared this surprising info with her, but I doubt she'd have cared, as she loved everyone, no matter who they were or where they came from. She would always tell me to respect & love & just love & never allow adversities to cloud my better judgement, or even to never pre-judge those I don't know. Such sharp lessons for a younger me. She was the true teacher, so to all Lithuanian's, if you are all akin to my dear long lost friend, then Lithuania must be a cracking place to be, not to mention, it's such a lovely country & I really love the "old town". Very quaint & sweet. These Expoza Travel videos are always super interesting & informative & I've been watching for years now. I do think however, that many require "updates", albeit, I still love the old videos & I hope they will always be available to view, as life was somewhat different back then & in a good way.
